Lester Calvin Cauffman, Jr., 72, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died Thursday, August 15, 2019 at his home in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was born January 25, 1947 to Lester and Emily (Leighton) Cauffman in Mount Hope. He attended country school in Mt. Hope, graduated from Fennimore High School and earned his two-year butcher degree at Southwest Technical College. Lester proudly joined and served in the United States Navy.

Lester was united in marriage with Kathy Hill on August 8, 1970. Four children were born to this union. Throughout the years, Lester farmed, did logging, worked for Cabela’s over 15 years in packing and receiving and was a meat cutter for Piggly Wiggly. He loved the Rendezvous and was a member of Big River Long Rifles.

Lester is survived by his wife, Kathy Cauffman of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; children, Dan (Beth) Kelly of Garnavillo, Iowa, Beth (Bob) Saddler of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Candy (Paul) Shaw of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Jesse (Cass) Cauffman of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Brandon, John, Nathan, Nate, Josiah, Mya, David, Cheyanne, Peter, Tajah, Jessica, Cody, Anthony and Aydan; great-grandchildren, Clara, Cyrus, Amelia and Joel; siblings, Donna Martinez, Jack (JoAnn) Cauffman, Robert (Margaret) Cauffman, Timmy Cauffman and Sandy (Jeff) Davis; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Emily Cauffman; grandson, Zebulin Wiedenbach and two brothers, George and David Cauffman.

Memorial Services were Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien. Military Rites will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with the arrangements.
