The Clayton Ridge School District board of directors heard  reports from school administrators, awarded bids, and approved routine agreements when they met in regular session on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the high school library in Guttenberg .

President John Heying called the meeting to order with board members Ellen Johnson, Alicia Helle, Christine Aulwes and Mike Finnegan in attendance, along with Superintendent Shane Wahls, Board Secretary Dave Schlueter, Dean of Students Wade Marlow, and School Nurse Renae Kraus. 

Dr. Bill Withers and Pat Heiderscheit of Keystone Area Education Agency spoke to the board on the AEA's mental health resources for schools and parents.

Superintendent Wahls reported on preparations for the coming school year and plans to share a teacher with Maquoketa Valley for additional Title I services. He reported on discussions with the local hospital about the possibility of providing an athletic trainer, and also discussed legal issues of anonymously-provided information.

The school nurse gave a report on peanut and other food allergies. The board will review the district's policy at next month's meeting.

Bids for milk were awarded to Prairie Farms Dairy and the bid for bread went to Bimbo Bakeries. The food service agreement with Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation for Head Start meals was okayed. The board approved an agreement to provide meals to Garnavillo Daycare.

The board approved an agreement with Northeast Iowa Community College to provide concurrent enrollment at $150 per student per course.
