Donna Marie (Benoy) Fortney, 82, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Prairie Masion in Prairie du Chien. 

Donna Marie was born July 15, 1936, to Clarence and Ella (Fisher) Benoy in Crawford County. 

She graduated from Seneca High School. Donna attended Blackhawk Technical College where she earned her Nursing Aid certification. Donna also earned her certification in the field of nutrition and put those skills to use as the owner and operator of Eastman Meadow Manor. In 1954, she married Bernard Fortney. To this union, three children were born, Kaye, John and Lisa. The couple later divorced. Donna operated her own restaurant in Tomahawk for a time before going to work at General Motors in Janesville as a painter. She retired from General Motors to spend more time with her family. Donna loved to play cards and bingo. Her family was a very important part of her life; she cherished her sisters-days in Madison or La Crosse for shopping and lunch.

Donna is survived by her three children, Kathern Olson, John Fortney and Lisa (John) Johnsen; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Frank (Jackie) Benoy, Joan (Bob) Allan, Bill Benoy, Pat Benoy, Jean (Jerry) Rau, Kathy (Tim) Stocks, Dian (Arnie) Malsack and Joyce Benoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ella; sister, Judy David; and brothers, Allen “Al” Benoy and Johnny Benoy.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Prairie du Chien is helping the family with arrangements.
