Deva Mae (Kadlec) Randall, 77, of McGregor, passed away at her home in McGregor on June 21, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born in McGregor on May 11, 1942, the daughter of Fredrick and DeElla (Welch) Kadlec. She married Kenneth Randall in September 1963, and later divorced. Deva had two children, Kirt Randall of McGregor and Jodi Randall (Manternach) of Fairfax.

Deva was a tiny lady who always took great pride in being neat, having her home and surroundings tidy. Deva lived at the Valley View apartments in McGregor and took it upon herself to plant, weed and beautify the garden. You would see Deva tending the flowers in any kind of hot weather—she loved warm weather and gardening. Those who knew Deva well also knew that she could be a very stubborn little lady. She loved her independence and could not be persuaded to do something she did not want to do. That independence was with her until the end.

Deva was full of energy, and she often worked two or more jobs to support her family. She was also an excellent taxi service for elderly ladies who needed transportation to the doctor, hair dresser or shopping. She baby sat people’s pets when needed. In all of these duties, her kindness and patience would always amaze those around her.

Deva was a quiet little lady with a lot of talents. She was a great seamstress—sewing all sorts of items along with children and baby clothes. She was artistic and liked to draw about anything but especially cartoon characters. You would often find her putting complicated puzzles together in the community room—and she was very persistent at getting them finished. Deva loved music, dancing and continued to enjoy listening to her favorites in the car or on her computer. She was an avid Elvis fan. Deva loved the ocean and warm weather—probably because she loved to walk—and she was a very fast walker!

Two things really stand out about Deva: her outstanding memory and her love for her dog, Molly. Deva could recite memories from most of her school days, down to the song that was playing and who was with her. Molly was with Deva 24/7 and they would totally count on each other. Per Deva’s wishes, they will be laid to rest together.

Deva is survived by her two children Kirt (Beth) Randall, Jodi (Pat) Manternach; four grandchildren Austin and Taylor Randall, Nicole (Brandon) Lovan, and Kara Manternach; two great-grandchildren Oliver and Oakley Lovan; two sisters Reva  Smock and Bonnie (Lyle) Troester. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Russell, Darrell and Roger. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 28, at noon, at Pikes Peak State Park, McGregor.
