Three arrested for methamphetamine

On May 13, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, along with the assistance of another deputy, conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu on S. Wacouta and E. Broadway streets in the city of Prairie du Chien. The deputies identified the driver as Randy Slaght, 34, Prairie du Chien. The passengers were identified as Abby Hiles, 36, Prairie du Chien, and Tod Frieden, 49, Waukon, Iowa. Hiles, who had an active warrant for her arrest, began moving things around her seat upon contact from the deputies. All three occupants displayed signs of drug use.

K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. The deputies located two hypodermic needles, with several CCs of liquid, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Two, additional used hypodermic needles, a small plastic baggy with a crystal substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine, schedule 4 narcotics and marijuana throughout the vehicle. 

Freiden and Hiles are on active probation for drug related charges. They were both arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail. Freiden was booked into the jail on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and THC-party to a crime and a probation violation. Hiles was booked on suspicion of possession of a schedule 4 narcotic, possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation. 

Slaght was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital for an evaluation. Slaght was subsequently arrested on suspicion of operating with a restricted controlled substance (third offense), possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, operating after revocation-criminal and failure to install and ignition interlock device. 

Assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department were the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Milo’s Towing, Crossing Rivers Hospital, Wisconsin Probation and Parole and Iowa Probation and Parole.
