James W. Long, 78, of Bagley, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1940, at home in Bagley, the son of William and Edith (Ellis) Long. Jim went to grade school at the Hazleton School in rural Bagley and to Madison to school before returning home to the family farm with his mother. They took care of each other as the years passed.  Jim loved anything to do with automobiles and could tell you the year, make and model of anything he saw. His hobby was assembling model car kits and creating his own with whatever materials were available. While still in his own home, Jim took care of his cats and Fridays were dedicated to garage sales. Once at Orchard Manor, he looked forward to his weekly visit and Uno game with Christine and Lexi.

Jim is survived by one brother, John (Carol) Long, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Edith Long; and his siblings, Dorothy Lester, Donald Long, Donna Kaufman and Irene Enke.

There will be no formal funeral services. Private family graveside services will be at Union Nagle Cemetery, Patch Grove Township. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with his care.
