Four injured in head-on bridge collision

On Jan. 26, at 9:24 p.m., Mar-Mac Police responded to a two-vehicle, head-on collision on U.S. Highway 18, the Marquette-Joliet Bridge, in Marquette.

A 2002 Isuzu Trooper, driven by Janita Stavroplus, of McGregor, was heading east on the bridge when the vehicle lost control due to icy road conditions. The vehicle slid across the westbound traffic lane, collided with a concrete barrier, re-entered the roadway, then collided head-on with a westbound 2008 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Chavon Beall, of Prairie du Chien.

Beall, Stavroplus and two passengers, Maria Stavroplus and Cheyenne Murawski, were transported by ambulance to Crossing Rivers Health, in Prairie du Chien, with injuries.

Assisting on scene were the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, the Prairie du Chien Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, McGregor Hook and Ladder, Mar-Mac Ambulance, MFL Ambulance, Tri-State Ambulance, Crawford County Highway Department and Bud’s Repair.
