At its annual budget hearing Monday night at Prairie du Chien High School, the board of education approved of a budget with a tax rate of $10.66. This is the seventh year in a row that the board has held the tax rate at $10.66.
A tax rate of $10.66 means that the owner of a property valued at $200,000 would pay $2,132 in property taxes for school purposes. The owner of a property valued at $150,000 would pay $1,599 in property taxes for school purposes.
The budget has a total levy of $3,913,975 in local taxes.
State Aid and other revenue is $8,450,831. Total revenue is $13,633,640. The Prairie du Chien Area School District has total expenditures of $13,865,924.
“This will cause a decrease of our Fund 10 and Fund 41 total balance from $2,296,732 from the end of fiscal 2017-18 to a budgeted total of $2,064,448,” said District Administrator Robert Smudde.
