The Crawford County Community Resource Guide is available to inform county residents of local services and programs and an effort is underway to increase the public’s awareness of the guide.

A product of the work of Crawford County Public Health and the Healthy Roots Coalition of Crawford County, the guide provides information on several important subjects. Some areas covered include housing resources, health care options, mental health care services, public assistance programs, employment and training, and resources for the elderly. Many other areas are also covered within the guide. Users can utilize the guide’s table of contents to quickly locate points of interest.

“Our focus is on empowering people by linking them to the resources that they want,” Public Health Officer Cindy Riniker said. “The resource guide can be a very useful tool, whether you are new to the area or a long-time resident.”

The Crawford County Elder and Adult-at Risk Abuse Prevention Interdisciplinary Team (I-Team) sponsored an event earlier this year that focused on the issue of self-neglect. One of the action steps suggested at the event was to build the community’s knowledge of the resources available to people so that they do not fall into self-neglect. In addition to providing information on adult services, the community resource guide also provides valuable information on services and programs for children and families. Information in the guide covers topics including early education, parenting, and child care.

The guide can be located on-line at crawfordcountywi.org. It is under the “Useful Links” section on the Crawford County Government home page. Copies of the guide can also be obtained at Crawford County Health and Human Services, at 225 N. Beaumont Rd., in Prairie du Chien.
