The Prairie du Chien boys soccer team began regional play hosting the Warriors of Ozaukee Tuesday afternoon on the Bluff View Pitch.

The Hawks started out quick, and with just 3:56 into the contest, Mark Welter fired a powerful and perfect kick for Prairie’s first goal.

Nineteen minutes later, (22:02) it was Ben Teynor’s turn, ripping through the Warrior defense then pounding it in for Prairie’s second goal.

Then, with 2 minutes left in the first half, freshman Landon Kohler arched a perfect corner to the back post, where Teynor leaped and headed it in for his second and the Hawks’ third goal and a 3-0 lead at the half.

The Hawks began their full team rotation in the second half. The defense shut down the Warrior attack and in the 83rd minute, it was Landon Kohler’s turn, finding a gap and then nailing the shot to put the Blackhawks up 4-0.

The score held till the closing whistle and the Blackhawk regional win.

Goalie Ryan Thein had 15 saves in the match.

The team heads to Watertown Thursday for the next stage of the State Tournament drive. They will meet the No. 2 seed Watertown Lutheran Prep Phoenix. Go Hawks!
