The public is invited to review a draft of the 2018 Clayton County Comprehensive Plan and offer feedback to planners.

The plan provides information regarding housing, economic development, transportation, agriculture, natural resources, public facilities, land use and more, establishes a vision for the county, and identifies a set of goals and strategies to assist local officials as they make future decisions.

The process to update the plan included ongoing public engagement opportunities, such as visioning meetings, a steering committee, focus group meetings, and public think tanks.

A draft of the plan will be available for public review and feedback for a 30-day period beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 10.  The plan can be obtained by contacting Regional Planner Michelle Barness of Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission (UERPC) at (563) 382 – 6171, or by email at mbarness@uerpc.org

The plan can also be viewed online at http://uerpc.org/comprehensive-planning-comments.html, where comments can be submitted.

The public review and comment period ends on Friday, Nov. 9. Public feedback will be considered and incorporated in a final version of the plan following the comment period.

A set of meetings will also be held at three locations around the county to facilitate opportunities for viewing summary plan information, and for posing questions and providing feedback in-person.  The dates and locations are:

Tuesday, Oct. 23: 12 noon – 1 p.m., Guttenberg Public Library meeting room, 603 South Second Street.

Monday, Oct. 22,  12 noon – 1 p.m., Strawberry Point City Hall meeting room, 111 Commercial Street.

Wednesday, Oct. 24, 12 noon – 1 p.m., Monona Public Library meeting room, 111 N. Page Street.
