Darlene Ann Westemeier
Darlene Ann Westemeier (Hallberg), 76, of Blue Eye, Mo., formally of Platteville/Cuba City, Wis., passed away on Sept. 3, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 6, 1941 in McGregor, to Otto and Merriel Hallberg (Johnson).
She leaves three children, Dave Westemeier, Janet (Mick) Pinkham and Bob (Erika)Westemeier, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Darlene is survived by her brothers Don (Cherie) Hallberg and Dean Hallberg and sister Elaine Phelps.
Darlene had many activities that kept her life full. After her retirement, she helped with Seniors Helping Seniors. She learned how to quilt and made all eight of her grandchildren a beautiful quilt. Gardening, sewing, reading and sitting on her back porch with her sister always making “someday plans” were the things she enjoyed most. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family is planning a celebration of life for her on Sept. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Sunshine Center by the Free Methodist Church, 350 E. Furnace St., Platteville. She will rest in peace in McGregor, on Sept. 30. Burial will be at the Swede Ridge Lutheran Church, 31743 175th St., McGregor, at 11:30 a.m.
