Luana Daze will celebrate fire department’s 100th anniversary

Get “Small Town Proud” and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Luana Fire Department at this year’s Luana Daze, held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25-26.
Activities will kick off early on Saturday with a 5K walk/run. Sign up starts at 7:15 a.m. and the race at 8 a.m., in front of the Luana Tap.
A pancake, egg and sausage breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
New this year will be a parade, beginning at 10 a.m., recognizing the fire department’s milestone anniversary. The route will start at Luther Keehner’s shop, 18263 115th St., east of town, then follow 115th Street as it becomes Main Street. Participants will then turn onto Church Street and travel on that for one block before turning onto Truman Street. After one block, the parade will head onto Burges Street before making its way back to Luther Keehner’s shop.
Also leaving Keehner’s shop at 10 a.m. will be the Luana Tractor Ride.
Following the parade, there will be a variety of events for the whole family, including kid’s activities from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fire department will serve brats and hotdogs.
Sautter’s Auto Sales and Service will sponsor a car show from noon to 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded in several classes, and members of the public are welcome to attend and vote for their favorite car. Any donations will support the fire department’s building fund.
A bean bag tourney will begin at 1 p.m., and a pedal tractor pull for the kids at 3:30 p.m.
Throughout the day, stop by the new Luana fire station for a tour of the work that’s been completed.
Saturday evening, from 5 to 9 p.m., the firemen will sell their famous ribeye sandwiches.
The 12th annual Luana Tap Street Dance, featuring music by Smoking Gun Showdown, will rock the community from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 26, Luana Daze will continue with the annual Luana Tractor Pull. Participants can begin registering at 11 a.m., and the pull will start at noon.
The firemen will once again serve brats, hotdogs and ribeye sandwiches.
