Linda J. Konichek, of Fennimore and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away on her 69th birthday, Wednesday, Aug. 15. 

She was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Donald and June (Reinhardt) Hand. Linda married John Konichek, Feb. 3, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien. She worked as a cook for several restaurants in the Prairie du Chien area and also in the manufacturing industry for companies such as Monona Wire and Prairie Industries. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John Konichek, of Fennimore; her son, John Jr., of Prairie du Chien; daughters, Kimberly (Aaron) Maag, of Deadwood, S.D., Brenda (Walt) Ready, of Prairie du Chien, and Dana Heginger, of Fennimore; a brother, Donald Jr. (Vicki) Hand, of Prairie du Chien; sisters, Aileen (David) Yager, of Prairie du Chien, and Kathy Van de Creek, both of Prairie du Chien, Laura Knight, of Waukon, Iowa, Janice Hand, of South St. Paul, Minn.; brother-in-law, LaVern Konichek, of Richland Center; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Alyssa and Devin.

A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.
