Letter asking for donations to fire department may be a scam
Jeff Boughton, Fire Chief for the Prairie du Chien Fire Department, would like to advise the residents of Prairie du Chien and surrounding area of a solicitation by mail for volunteering time or donation of money to local fire departments in the Prairie du Chien area.
It was brought to the attention of the fire chief of a letter received by a local resident asking for volunteer time or in lieu of donated time, a monetary donation. The company asking for this support is Volunteer Firefighter Alliance located in Topeka, Kan.
Chief Boughton wants everyone to know and understand that this solicitation is not endorsed or affiliated with the Prairie du Chien Fire Department or the city of Prairie du Chien. If you happen to get a letter like this, it may be a scam.
If you have any questions concerning this, please contact either Fire Chief Jeff Boughton with the Prairie du Chien Fire Department (326-4365) or the Crawford County Communications Center (326-2421).
