Kenneth L. Cornford, 83, of Beloit, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 2, in his home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Prairie du Chien, the son of John B. and Marcella J. (Valley) Cornford. Ken was a 1952 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ken married Lois Bouzek on Jan. 19, 1955, in Prairie du Chien.

Ken was formerly employed by Beloit Corporation, Beloit Bridge & Iron, Kenwell, MEP and retired from DM Manufacturing as the production manager. He enjoyed his beautiful garden and socializing with all his friends at the Grand Slam, Tilley’s, Boundaries and the Hat Rack. Ken was an avid fisherman who recently caught 36 Blue Gills with his friend Mike. He was a Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan. Ken was a member of the Rockton American Legion Post #332, Beloit V.F.W. Mead-Allen Post #2306. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church where he and his wife were the matching greeters for over 22 years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lois Cornford, of Beloit; his children, Dave (Vicki) Cornford, of South Beloit, Ill., Dan (Kathie) Cornford and Larry Cornford, both of Beloit; grandchildren, Shannon (Kelly) Latham, of Las Vegas, Nev., Shawn Cornford, of Beloit, Jessica (Doug) Bartmann, of Waukesha, Amber Cornford, of Cherry Valley, Ill., and Ashley (Zach Kentner) Cornford, of South Beloit, Ill.; great grandchildren, Kellen and Kacey Latham, Jackson and Dalton Bartmann; brothers, Tom (Bev) Cornford and Jimmy (Lucy) Cornford, both of Prairie du Chien; sister-in-law, Janice Cornford, of Janesville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends including, Tommy Rucker, Mike Hulbert, Lucas Schulz and Vern Schmuck.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather Jim; brothers, Davey, Philip and Dean Cornford; and brother-in-law John Bouzek.

A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, with Fr. Michael Resop officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post #2306. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
