Stephen Warner Towle, 81, of Paw Paw, passed away July 13, at his home.

He was born in McGregor, Iowa, on Feb. 9, 1937, to the late William Irving and LaVonne (Prouty) Towle. On Nov. 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Virgene (Berns) Towle.

Doc Towle was a dedicated Chiropractor serving the Paw Paw community since 1963. He was a member of the Paw Paw Lions Club, the American Legion McGowan Johnson Post 68 and the Knights of Columbus Council 3798 Paw Paw. Doc proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was part of the secret service. He loved to go ballroom dancing and enjoyed listening to big band music. He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved fishing and hunting and was a supporter of the Paw Paw sports teams.

While Doc was a sports fan, he cherished his family, faith and friends more. Doc will be missed by many, but none will miss him more than his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Virgene, of 58 years; four children, Stella Torres, Russ (Heidi) Towle, Jayne (Mark) VanOeffelen and Bill (Robin) Towle; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Laura, Richard, August, Danielle, Steven, Kaylee, Stephanie and Addie; and one brother Richard (Beverly) Towle.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, with Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan officiating. Burial was at Saint Mary Cemetery where military honors were presented. Memorial contributions may be directed to Saint Mary School of Pawa Paw or to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
