Jenna Lueck of Sherrill will display her new series of paintings featuring northeast Iowa landscapes at Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center throughout July. (Photo submitted)

Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center is proud to introduce its summer Art + Music summer series with an exhibition by painter Jenna Lueck and a live performance by musician Bruce Bryant.

Lueck, who is now raising a family in Sherrill, grew up on a dairy farm in the hills of northeast Iowa and has always appreciated the beauty of the area. Her paintings share the landscape she loves dearly with viewers through a new series premiering Monday, July 2, at Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center, located at 214 S. River Park Drive, Guttenberg.

“My first full series is an ‘Eastern Iowa’ series – the farms, landscapes, and the fog on the river that I always loved seeing as I rode the bus to school,” says the artist. The eight paintings in the series will be on display in Guttenberg through July 27. “Whether it is a vacation you were on or the countryside where you grew up, I hope my art brings wonderful feelings to your heart and intrigues you. I hope it pulls you in and allows you to ‘get lost’ for a moment or two.”

Lueck enhances the color of the landscapes she sees when brushing paint onto her two-by-four foot canvases. “Many times, when I look back at photos, they just don’t do the original scene justice. I strive to give my paintings that extra flair that brings out the true beauty of a subject and really relays how I felt in a given moment.”

An artist reception for Lueck will be held on Sunday, July 15, from 1-3 p.m. The public is invited to meet the artist, view her work and the work of other area artists on display in the gallery, and enjoy the music of Guttenberg performer Bruce Bryant.

Bryant’s solo act, known as Carpe Diem, blends tunes you’ve heard with tunes you haven’t from Cat Stevens, The Beatles, and other favorites – including original songs by the lifelong musician himself. Bryant’s characteristic vocals and acoustic guitar will be accompanied by the recent addition of a drum kit, also played by Bryant.

The music will take place in Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center’s outdoor courtyard, weather permitting. The onsite, youth-driven Courtyard Café will offer coffee beverages, wine, grilled food and ice cream treats during the event.

Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center is an independent nonprofit that provides high-quality community arts experiences for all ages in a safe, positive environment.
