The Prairie du Chien City Council voted 6-0 at its regular meeting Tuesday night to approve of a lease agreement with Dillman Bros., LLC to lease the former Regal Marina. Councilmen Todd Crotty and Edward Hayes-Hall were absent.
The lease will be for one year. The lease amount for the one year is $2,000. The marina will be operated with the existing docks that are in place for this year only. Future, expansion and other items have not been discussed with the council to date. The city will attempt to negotiate a longer lease for future use with Dillman Bros., LLC. The city had made a request for proposals and Dillman Brothers was the only proposal the city received.
“We’d like to operate the Prairie du Chien Marina,” said Baron Dillman in addressing the council. Dillman said the northern most docks should be ready to go in one or two weeks. Those docks would be mostly for pontoon boats. He said the other docks, which would be for houseboats and other large vessels, will take longer to get ready to go. There will be no power at the marina during the beginning stages. State inspectors will inspect the property before it is up and running.
In other business, the council voted 6-0 to approve the sale of $1,695,000 in general obligation bonds for street projects, parks and other public grounds projects and the acquisition of equipment for fire protection. There were four bids for the bonds, which will be through Banker’s Bank of Madison in partnership with People’s State Bank of Prairie du Chien. The bonds have an interest rate of 3.11 percent for 15 years.
The council also approved $1,050,000 in note anticipation notes through Banker’s Bank and People’s State Bank to go towards the Prairie du Chien Public Library project and for a communication repeater. The notes have an interest rate of 2.59 percent for five years. There were four bids.
In further business, the city approved 6-0 the potential sale of four lots. All four lots will be ordered for appraisals and then delivered to the council for review and possible sale. Lots 1 and 2 are approximately 5,000 square feet. Lot 3 is approximately 10,000 square feet and lot 4 is 3/4 of an acre. Lots 1-3 are zoned R-1. Lot 4 is RF. All are located on the western portion of the city near First Street and the Highway 18 Bypass. None of the lots currently has a legal access right.
