James E. “Jim” Leamy, 79, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully in the family home where he was born, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 9.

Jim was born on Oct. 10, 1938, the son of Eugene and Marie (Hermsen) Leamy. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. Jim was united into marriage on Dec. 29, 1960, to Virginia M. “Ginny” Roschi at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven.

Jim and his brother David worked alongside their father Eugene, on the Leamy family farm later forming Leamy Bros. Partnership. Jim was truly blessed to continue farming with David for his entire life. He served on the Bloomington Farmer’s Co-op Board, as well as being Vice President and President of Bloomington Farmer’s Mutual Insurance. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington and served as President of St. Mary’s Parish Council.

He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor. Jim enjoyed playing cards, giving combine rides and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for music and enjoyed traveling with his wife Virginia.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Ginny; three daughters Theresa (Mike) Salvatore, Lisa (Ron) Mayne and Tammy Leamy; one sister Mary Jean Kusick; one brother David (Shirley) Leamy; six grandchildren Nichole (Justin) Seippel, Jennifer (Justin) Allen, Cody (Kathy) Mayne, Matthew Salvatore, Christopher Salvatore and Rhiannon Kizewski; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Eugene and Marie, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Leamy and brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Kusick.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bloomington.
