Harold J. “Sonny” Ray, 90, of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, at Crossing Rivers Health Care Center. 

 

He was born Nov. 4, 1927, the son of Carl and Nellie (Hopwood) Ray. On July 16, 1949, Harold was united in marriage to Sybol J. Callaway at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Sonny was an Army and Air Force Veteran of two wars and a Railroad Engineer for 35 years. 

 

Survivors include his children, Debra (Marty) Martin, Prairie du Chien, and Alan Ray, Prairie du Chien, Dan (Sandra) Ray, of Tampa, Fla.; four granddaughters; and nine great grandchildren. 

 

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sybol, and his youngest son, Richard C. Ray. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sonny's honor on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his residence, 504 S. Dousman Street, in Prairie du Chien from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given in Sonny's name to Crossing Rivers Health Care Center or Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter.
