During the early afternoon hours of March 19, the Boscobel Fire Department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resourses were dispatched to a wildfire on a hillside near 23600 Byers Road in the township of Marietta, Crawford County.

As fire personnel attempted to extinguish the fire, they observed items they deemed suspicious and possibly associated with the manufacturing and use of illegal narcotics.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, along with a Wisconsin DNR conservation warden, began investigating the scene. While doing so, they noticed approximately 10 live and growing marijuana plants in the front window of the above address.

A search warrant for the residence was applied for and granted. During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement located 158 live and growing marijuana plants, approximately three pounds of processed marijuana, a number of other items associated with the manufacturing and use of illegal narcotics and two firearms.

The occupants of the residence Cody Jacobus, 37, and Cyley Jacobus, 32, were both arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail as a result of the search warrant.

Cody Jacobus was located at a neighbor’s residence and found to be in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. He is being held in the Crawford County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond and faces possible charges of possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing THC, possession of THC, felon in possession of firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cyley Jacobus was located inside the residence. He is being held in the Crawford County Jail on a $500 cash bond and he possibly faces charges of manufacturing THC.

Cody and Cyley Jacobus both have a court hearing scheduled for April 3 in Crawford County Circuit Court.
