Virginia Josephine Rosina Oldag Anderson was born December 17, 1926 in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Alma (Ruckdaschel) Oldag and Edward Oldag.  She passed away on March 16, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

She was baptized and confirmed in St Paul’s Lutheran Church.  On June 7, 1949 she was married to Dale Anderson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Rev. F. R. Ludwig.  They were the parents of two children, Douglas and an infant son.  They farmed south of Postville until 1985 when they moved to Postville.

She graduated from Finley Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa in 1947.  She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.  She was a staff nurse at Worrall Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, Director of Nurses at Community Memorial Hospital, also an Office Nurse for Dr. M.F. Kiesau, supervisor at Central Community Hospital in Elkader and Parish Nurse at Lutheran Church in Postville.

She was a member of the Hospice Board of N.E. Iowa, a hospice volunteer.  She witnessed the beginnings and the ending of many lives during her nursing career.

Surviving are husband, Dale; son, Douglas; granddaughter, Lindsay (Hector) Salinas; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Belle and Seth Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and two sisters, Delilah Knutson and Bernice Schneider.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 22, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. Rev.  Lynn Noel officiated at the service. Friends called an hour before services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa. 

The Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville, Iowa assisted the family.
