Mary Pitzer entered heavens gates on March 17.

Mary was born to William and Marie (Walter) Becwar on Dec. 28, 1936. Mary was married to Edward Pitzer in 1957, who God chose to add to his angels in 1962., and their son Todd joined him in 1963. Mary later married Jim Pitzer in 1966, who proceeded her in death on June 25, 2017 after 51 years of marriage. They spent many enjoyable days riding there Harley Davidson motorcycle and meeting many friends along the way.

Mary had a passion for her family and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was excitedly looking forward to meeting her 11th great grandchild. She was a very fun, loving mother and grandmother. She had many talents. She authored a wild game cook book and she was known for baking special cakes for her families birthdays and for special occasions.

She is known for her love of animals and fostered pets in need. She had a zest for life and her favorite saying was “If there’s fun involved, count me in.” She was known as the fun grandma and recently took a cruise with her family.

She is survived by her children, Lori (David) Bedward, of Prairie du Chien, Michele Klema, of Prairie du Chien, Angela (Leb) Brown, of Gays Mills, Bonnie (Kevin) Johnston, of Olympia, Wash., Mitch Pitzer, of Appleton, Marty (Donna) Pitzer, of Waukesha, and Stephanie (Bob) Szopinski, Miss.; siblings Leonard (Jane) Becwar, of Ariz, Greg (Faye) Becwar, of New Mexico, and Joni (Leon) Meyer, of Viroqua.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; sister Veronica Shulka; brothers Bernard Becwar, Lawrence Becwar, and Ambrose Becwar; and sons Jim Pitzer Jr., Mike Pitzer and a son-in-law Mick Klema.

Funeral services will be held on March 23, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Church Prairie du Chien. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
