Two vehicles collided head-on in rural Mount Hope last week, yet the four individuals involved escaped injury free, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.

On March 5, around 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office responded to a two-vehicle crash in the township of Mount Hope near the intersection of Highway 18 and North Center Street. Involved were a 2005 Kia Spectra and a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Navarro Estaban Fransico, 38, of Ciecro, Ill., with .

The Fransico vehicle was eastbound, carrying passengers Rivera Aleman and Luis Yair, both of Darlington, when he lost control and crossed the center line, entering the westbound lane. The westbound lane was occupied by the Traverse, driven by Amanda Collins, 28, of Mount Hope. The two vehicles hit head-on causing the Collins vehicle to spin and slide off onto the shoulder. The Fransico vehicle slid across the two lanes and came to rest.

There were no life-threatening injuries and all parties involved refused medical transport at the scene. Assisting at the scene were Bloomington Fire and EMS, as well as B & M Towing, of Bloomington.
