The Prairie du Chien Knights of Columbus will host this year’s Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 25 (Palm Sunday), at 11:30 a.m., at the Cecil Smith athletic fields. Over 5,000 eggs will be filled with candy and divided in areas of the fields based upon three different age groups: infant to 3, 4-7 and 8-12.

Within each age group, there will be two grand prize eggs. The child who tosses those eggs in particular into their basket or bucket will win either a bike or an Easter basket filled with various goodies. Knights of Columbus and Prairie Catholic School Jaywalkers volunteers will be manning the festivities.

New this year, according to organizer Carl Seputis, the Prairie du Chien Fire Department will have a fire truck on site and a fire siren will sound off to start the Easter Egg Hunt.

Seputis said, in addition to the Knights’ sponsorship of this community event, Walmart has chipped in with donations. This is the second year the Knights of Columbus has hosted the hunt.

“We started sponsoring it because of all the support the community gives us for our endeavors. We wanted to give back,” Seputis said.
