Ruby G. Koehn, 86, of Elkader, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. Ruby was born April 3, 1931, in Gunder, to Gottfried and Clara (Knudtson) Kurth. She graduated from Postville High School.

Ruby was united in marriage to Alvin A. Koehn on April 5, 1949. The couple became the parents of seven children. She worked as a waitress and cook at Patrick’s Tavern and Café in Elkader for 35 years. She was always cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed making lefse, working her puzzle books, canning meat and vegetables, and watching wrestling. She was an avid member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) where she enjoyed a bit of social times with good friends.

The most important thing in her life was her family. Ruby loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many nieces and nephews who also loved spending time with her.

Ruby is survived by her children, Tom Koehn, Connie Koehn, Daryl (Lori Koss) Koehn, all of Elkader; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Corey (Sara) Koehn, Griffin, Mason and Dylan, of Elkader; Stacy (Justin) Fuelling, Diezel, Weston and Abby of Monona; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin in 2013; four sons in infancy; one brother, Mick Kurth and a sister, Ethel Flack.

The family would like to give a Special Thank You to the Elkader Care Center for such loving care over the years.

A visitation was held at 9:30 a.m. until service time at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The memorial service followed at 11 Pastor Jon Haack officiated. Inurnment was at East Side Cemetery, Elkader
