On Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30, the Prairie du Chien grapplers traveled to La Crosse for the 36th Annual Bi-State Classic hosted by Holmen High School at the La Crosse Center.
This event puts 61 teams from all divisions together, with more than 600 wrestlers from throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Bi-State Classic is one of the toughest holiday tournaments in the Midwest. There were 91 wrestlers in the event who competed in the Wisconsin or Minnesota state tournaments last year; 41 of them were medalists and seven of them were state champions.
As a team, Prairie du Chien finished in 10th place with 172.5 points and seven medalists. This is the most points the Blackhawks have scored since 216 points were scored in 2004. The seven medalists are also the most since 2004.
Leading the way for the Blackhawks were Traeton Saint (138#) and Colten Wall (220#) with 6th-place finishes. Matt Rogge (106#) finished in 9th place. Nick Rogge (160#) and Stephen Ronnfeldt (195#) finished in 10th place. Reid Koenig (132#) finished in 11th place, and Bradyn Saint (126#) finished in 12th place.
