On December 18 the Central boys traveled to Delhi to play Maquoketa Valley. The Warriors won by a score of 59-38.
“We got solid contributions from William Christeleit who finished with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists,” Coach Derek Bergan said.  “Caleb Jones also hit a big three pointer in the third quarter. Noah Erickson finished with 23 points, and Andy Seeland had 14. Noah and Andy did a great job of not forcing things against the junk defense that they saw and were ready to shoot when the opportunity showed itself.”
“This was a great team effort because Maquoketa Valley tried to play triangle and two against our two best shooters,” Coach Bergan continued.  “We started off slow as we turned the ball over a few too many times in the first quarter, but we came out of halftime with a different sense of urgency and improved on our 7 point halftime lead to a 15 point lead going into the fourth quarter.”
The following day, the Warriors beat Clayton Ridge at Guttenberg 47-36. Caleb Jones had a career high 11 points to lead the team.
“We once again saw a triangle and two defense, which forced our secondary scorers to step up, and they did especially in the second half,” Coach Bergan said. “Brent Scherf finished with six points and Kyle Jacobson had two. AJ Engelhardt led our offensive charge with five assists setting up some great opportunities for his teammates. Noah Erickson finished with 10 points but did a great job of guarding their leading scorer when we went to a box and one defense, and Andy Seeland hit a big three in the third quarter to get our lead up to double digits.”
