Betty J. Standorf
Betty J. Standorf, 88, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien.
She was born June 11, 1929, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Milton and Anna (Fishler) Zabel. She married Lawrence “Bud” Standorf on Nov. 11, 1947, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Bridgeport. Betty also worked at various other part time jobs. Bud preceded her in death on April 11, 2003. Betty was a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Cherrier, of Prairie du Chien, and Sharon Copeland, of Soldiers Grove; her sons, Robert (Cindy) and Roger (Sue), both of Prairie du Chien; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Harry and Arnie Zabel along with a sister Donna Mae Zabel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
