John Michael Scott, 67, of McGregor, left this life on Sunday, Nov. 19, while on vacation in Omaha, Neb. He suffered a heart attack and couldn’t be revived.

John started his life in Washington State, joined the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for Boeing Aviation the majority of his West Coast life. In the late 1990s he moved to Alaska where his soon to be good friend connected. He met his friend’s sister Julie Ball. Later, they became good friends and were married on March 25, 2005.

John became a husband, grandpa and great-grandpa all at the same time. He found the family that he always yearned for and even met his biological father just last year. John could fix almost anything and has left an unfillable hole with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Julie; two daughters, Trina (Jim) Springsteen, of Marquette, Iowa and Kristi Shaffer (Todd) McGregor, Iowa.; grandchildren, Ben, Becca, Katlyn and Gunnar; great-grandson Kennith; his father Jack “John” Ourada; two sisters, Paula Brown and Sue Bachmeier and his brother Matt Bachmeier.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores; and father-in-law Marvin Ball.

There will be no services per John’s request. Rest in peace John as your next chapter takes you on another adventure of wanderlust.
