Betty R. Stickfort
Betty Ruth Stickfort, 91, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Elkader Care Center.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Gary Hatcher. Visitation was before services at the church.
Interment was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo.
Betty was born on Sept. 25, 1926, in rural McGregor, the daughter of John and Lucille Frye.
Betty received her education locally and graduated from the Garnavillo High School. On Jan. 16, 1945, Betty was united in marriage with Earl E. Stickfort Sr. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Together Earl and Betty tilled the land outside of Garnavillo and were blessed with six children. Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, picking berries, country music and babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, Betty enjoyed traveling and waitressing at various local restaurants.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Earl Jr. (Tracy) Stickfort, Connie (Guy) Stumpf, Crystal Kessler, Stuart (Aracelly) Stickfort and Kim Esquibel; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Gerald (Marilyn) Frye, Iris (Bob) Dohse, Eleanor Soulli, Geraldine (Jim) Sandin, Rolland (Madonna) Frye and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Sr. in 1986; son, Gregory Stickfort; siblings, Frances Kruse, Kenny and Lyle Frye.
