PdC Sports to be Broadcast

PdC to have live high school sports broadcasts

The Prairie du Chien School District has just started broadcasting sporting events live from the high school gym. Athletic Director Sara Godfrey said the school district has entered into a partnership with the NFHS Network to broadcast sports that occur in the gym live. People can watch the games from anywhere with their phones, tablets, computers or smart TV.

Godfrey said the school has a program that is set up to turn the recording equipment in the gym on at the start of a game.

“We send our schedules to the program so it knows when we have an event,” said Godfrey.

Godfrey noted that Greg Bender of Prairie du Chien’s WQPC/WPRE will do play-by-play for the broadcasts, so viewers will hear the familiar voice of Bender while they are watching.

The broadcasts will cover the rest of the high school volleyball season, and all basketball games and wrestling matches that take place in the gym during the winter sports season.

As part of the partnership with the NFHS Network, the network will return a portion of each subscription to Prairie du Chien High School. Those funds will go into the district funds, said Godfrey.

Then click “Follow” in order to stay up to date on all upcoming Blackhawks’ broadcasting events. Next, click “Subscribe” for all subscription options for Prairie du Chien High School.

Subscription options include a monthly pass, a seasonal pass (four months), and an annual pass (12 months).

The NFHS Network’s school broadcasting program is available to high schools nationwide. The program allows schools to use extensive and proprietary technology, services and support to build their school’s digital network on the NFHS Network.

The next Prairie du Chien High School home volleyball match will be on Thursday, Oct. 12, against Richland Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
