Harold “Bill” Duball Jr., 79, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a short illness. 

 

The son of Harold Sr. and Lena Meskimen Duball, Bill was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Iowa City. Mr. Duball graduated McGregor High School in McGregor, as class valedictorian in 1955. He joined the United States Navy in June of 1955. In June of 1957 while serving at Brunswick Naval Air Station, Bill met Aline M. Ouellette. They were married on June 28, 1958. Bill proudly served his country as an electronics technician for 20 in the Navy before retiring as Master Chief on June 30, 1975. 

 

Bill went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts from the University of Southern Maine in 1979. He taught Electronics at Lewiston Regional Technical Center, formerly Lewiston High School Vocational, until retiring in June of 1999. Mr. Duball was a member of the Mere Creek Golf Club, Fleet Reserve Association, Epsilon Pi Tau fraternity and the Knights of Columbus. 

 

He enjoyed golfing daily with his buddies, gardening, fishing and family outings with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 

He is survived by his wife Aline; his three sons: Steve, of Richmond, Va., Greg, of Stratham, N.H., and Scott and his wife Kim, of Milford, N.H.; his grandchildren: Jacob, Joseph, Bryanna, Chelsea, Kyle, Ryan, Zachary and Tyler; and his great-grandsons: Brayden and Connor. He is further survived by a brother Jerry (Kay), of Hiawatha, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

Bill was predeceased by a daughter Lesa Ann Duball-Pratt; granddaughter Hillary; twin sisters Betty Lou Duball and Patricia Lee Duball; and a brother James Duball.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church-All Saints Parish, Pleasant St., Brunswick. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
