Stanley J. McLane, 87, of Dyersville passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 28, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville.

Funeral services were Sept. 28, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with committal in the church cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Dennis Conway with Deacon Jim Steger assisting. Lectors were Jessica McLane and Danielle Burdt and giftbearers were Katie Nickol, Kristie Rellihan and Jenna McLane. Music was provided by St. Francis Xavier Resurrection Choir. Eucharistic ministers were Jim amd Joan Steger, Kathy and Ron Boeckenstedt. Urnbearers were Jess McLane, Jamie Habel, Jonathon Habel, Jeremy Burdt and Travis McLane.

Stanley was born on Aug. 8, 1930, the son of James and Margaret (Meyer) McLane at Garber. On June 27, 1951, he married Betty Lou Meyer. They started their life together farming in Garber, and later purchased a farm in Worthington, where they farmed until 1975. At that time they moved to Farley. Stanley drove school bus for the Western Dubuque School District for over 30 years. After retiring from that he was involved in real estate and drove tour buses. He also thoroughly enjoyed his job of driving for White Rose Limousine Service. He and Betty enjoyed traveling and he was proud of the fact that they visited all 49 continental states.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; daughters, LouAnn Habel (Cavin Grady) of Bettendorf, Shar (Luke) Boeckenstedt of Dyersville, Cindy (Joe) Burdt of Dubuque; son, Kevin (Jessica) of Leander, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren plus another expected soon; in-laws, Mary Jane (Harry) Steger, Helen Meyer, Patricia Meyer, Dorothy Meyer, Jim (Sheila) Meyer, Joyce (Ron) Drey, Kenneth (Kathy) Meyer and Janice (Ron) Alfred.

He is preceded in death by a son, Rick, a grandson, David McLane, brothers: Kenneth (Jean), Jerome (Frances) and Loraine (Clarissa); and in-laws: Donald Meyer, Richard Meyer, Loras Meyer and Ron Olberding. 

A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Oak Crest Manor for the care given to him the last two years.

He will be missed greatly, but we will move forward with one of his favorite sayings, “You can handle it now.”
