MaDonna P. “Donna” Stephens, 85, of Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Platteville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, following a brief illness. 

 

She was born Aug. 5, 1932, the daughter of Herman and Helen (Hampton) Dresen. She married Gordon Stephens on June 12, 1950, at St. Mary’s Church in Platteville. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2008. 

 

She loved her family and is survived by her sons Larry (Cindy) Stephens, of Hartford, Michael Stephens (Sandra) and Jason Plaga, of Verona; a daughter Karla (Gary) Dean, of Potosi; granddaughters Kayla (Tyler) Harris and Staci (Jason Kleist) Dean; great grandchildren, Alexis, Maci and Tenley Harris; a brother Dennis (Lori) Dresen, of Mineral Point; sisters, Dorothy Koeller and Elaine (Jerry) Uppena, both of Potosi; and a brother-in-law Walter Butson, of Mazomanie. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;  a brother Laverne Dresen; a sister Arlene Butson; and an infant sister.

 

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church of the Holy Family Parish with inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
