Rodger Cletus Sear, Jr., 75, of Garber, IA, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at his home near Garber. He was the son of Rodger and Betty Sear Sr., and was born October 23, 1941, in Dubuque.

Rodger received his education locally, and served his country in the United States Army. He owned and operated the Sear Auto Salvage and Sear 66 Service for a many years. On November 26, 1976, he was united in marriage with Carla Hansel in Dubuque. Rodger enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Carla; one daughter, Tanya (David) Drips; three sons, Warren (Angie) Sear, Rodger (Kaitlin) Sear III, and William (Casey Miller) Sear; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Lue (Edward) Huseman and Susan (Thom) Keifer; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rodger and Mary (step-mom) Sear Sr; Betty Foley; and one daughter, Sarah Sear.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, where friends called from 2-7 p.m. Sunday September 10. There was also a visitation at St. John’s Congregational Church, Garber, Monday, September 11, from 9-10 a.m. A funeral service was held at St. John’s at 10 a.m. Monday.
