Michael G. Vavricka, 67, of Fennimore, died on Friday morning Sept. 8, at his residence in Fennimore. 

 

Michael was born on April 18, 1950, in Dodgeville, the son of Joseph and Daisy (Timmens) Vavricka. He married Alana Harms on July 9, 1977, at the Highland Presbyterian Church.

 

Mike graduated from Iowa Grant High School in 1968.  He then attended Southwest Tech in Fennimore where he received a degree in auto mechanics before being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from 1972 until 1975. Mike had been working at HyPro Inc. in Platteville for the past 12 years as a machinist. In his spare time Mike enjoyed fishing and fixing computers. He was a loving husband and father and a dedicated member of the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien where he looked forward to spending time with the Men’s Bible Study and participating in the Men’s Retreat. 

 

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Alana, of Fennimore; two daughters, Janena Vavricka, of La Crosse, and Larissa (Mathew) Juntunen, of Black Earth; sisters Sue (Doug) Fleming, of Fennimore, and Marilyn (Donald) Winkers, of Montfort; and a brother Edward Vavricka, of Livingston. 

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Doris Vavricka.  

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday Sept. 15, 2017 at the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien. Burial with military honors will follow in the Eden Cemetery in Eden Township, Iowa County, WI.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
