Louis Matt III, 91, of Garnavillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries. Visitation was before services at the church.

Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo.

Louis was born on June 1, 1926, on the family farm near St. Olaf. 

Louis attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Garnavillo and later attended high school in Monona. On Feb. 27, 1954, Louis was united in marriage with Armella “Amy” Frommelt at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg. Together Louis and Amy raised their children on the family farm near St. Olaf. Farming and feeding cattle were his passions. Louis and Amy enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family. In later years, Louis filled his days with long walks. 

Louis will be forever loved and cherished by his five children, Bruce (Margaret) Matt, Louis Matt IV, Michaele Matt, Gary (Rae Marie) Matt and Inda (Joe) Pawlak; three grandchildren, Nick Matt, Anika and Jerome Pawlak; one sister, Annette Matt and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amy in 2009; daughter, Martha; siblings, James, David and Francis Matt, twin brothers, John and Joseph Matt in infancy, Alice Matt, Vivian Hebb and Sister Edith Matt.
