Cordelia R. Morales, 62, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

 

She was born May 17, 1955, in Chicago, the daughter of Richard and Cordelia (Grey) Essick. She married Joseph Morales on Oct. 20, 1973, in Chicago. She worked as a nurse’s aide and for Brown’s Chicken in Chicago. Cordelia later worked in the bakery for Wal-Mart in Prairie du Chien.  

 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Morales and their daughter Gloria Ann (Raymond) Slawinski, both of Prairie du Chien; her son Joseph Martin Jr., of Chicago; her brothers, John Nelson and Russell Essick, both of Houston, Texas, and Richard Essick, of Chicago; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Susan, Joseph and Raymond. 

 

She was preceded in death by her daughter Cordelia; her son Marcus; her parents; and a sister Carol Nelson.

 

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The Morales family will be receiving friends at their home located in Homesteader Court; 41 Joyce Avenue, Prairie du Chien, after noon on Friday, Aug. 4. The Garrity Funeral Home is assisting the family.
