Todd Robert Fisher Wallin, 40, of Ferryville, died Saturday, July 29, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse due to injuries sustained falling from a tree while trying to make his family’s home beautiful.

Todd was born on Oct. 28, 1976, in La Crosse to Ron and Karen Wallin. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1995, and received an Automotive Technician Associates degree from SWTC. He worked as an automotive technician, a motorcycle safety instructor, operations coordinator at WDRT, in Viroqua, co-owner of Phantom Machine Works, stay-at-home-dad, and most recently provided computer and tech support for numerous community radio stations around the country. He married Heather Fisher in 2004, and they raised their blended family together.

Todd lived life to the fullest. First and foremost, he was a devoted dad, grandpa and husband. He and his wife recently bought a new home in Stoddard and were working on remodeling it. Besides spending time with his family, Todd had a passion for knowledge and computers. He could fix anything, had an opinion about everything, and would help anyone.

He enjoyed helping his community and was the treasurer of the Retreat Sportsman’s Club. His other many hobbies and interests included camping, traveling, boating, hiking, motorcycling, music, listening to NPR, gardening, renewable energy, hunting and drinking Kickapoo coffee and craft beers.

Todd is survived by his wife, Heather Fisher Wallin; his children, Johnathon (Erin) Swartwout, of La Crosse, Ben Wallin, of Madison, Leopold and Zahara Fisher Wallin, of Ferryville; his grandson, Sebastion Swartwout, whom he doted on and was proud to share his birthday with; his parents, Ron and Karen Wallin, of Seneca; his sister, Sara (Ron) Ross, of Prairie du Chien; his father and mother in-law, Allen and Jackie Fisher, of Ettrick; brother-in-law, Brad (Nancy) Fisher, of Coon Valley; sister-in-law, Morgan Fisher, of Green Bay; and nephews, Sean, Zachary and James Ross, of Prairie du Chien, and Brayden and Orion Fisher, of Coon Valley. He also had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

Todd was preceded in death by his niece, Alanna Fisher; his uncles, Robert Zinkle and John Wallin; and his grandparents, Robert and Lois Zinkle, and Leo and Annetta Wallin.

The family would like to thank Stoddard 1st Responders and Gundersen Critical Care for their quick response and excellent care of Todd; and numerous family and friends who stopped by the hospital or sent well wishes during this tough time.

A celebration of Todd’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at the Buck Walleser Memorial Hall, E3460 Co. Rd. N, De Soto, WI. Pastor John Ashland will officiate. A memorial fund has been started by friends on Generosity.com called “Help Give Todd’s Family a Home” to assist the family. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
