Happy 60th Birthday in Heaven. Jeffrey Allen Swisher of Wheaton, Ill., formerly of Garnavillo, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Feb. 3, 2017, at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, Ill., after a courageous battle with cancer. His family was by his side.

To honor Jeff’s life, memorial services were held at Christ Community Church, Geneva, Ill., on Feb. 11, conducted by his longtime friend and pastor, Mike Hurn. Funeral services were also held Feb. 19, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Jeff was born on July 14, 1957, son of Eldon and Shirley Swisher. He attended elementary and high school in Garnavillo and then graduated from UNI in 1980. Business opportunities took him to the Lombard/Wheaton suburbs of Chicago where he lived with his wife Chris until his death.

Jeff was a friend to everyone. He had a passion for sports of all kinds, especially baseball. He participated in an over 30s baseball league for more than 25 years and enjoyed the close friendships that developed. He also enjoyed entertaining, grilling and gardening.

Those left to cherish Jeff’s memory are his wife, Chris; daughter, Angela (Jim) and grandsons, Geno and Luca of Wheaton, Ill.; his mother, Shirley Swisher of Garnavillo; his sister, Susan (Dennis) Troester of Dubuque; niece, Stacia (Rob) Gillam and sons, Benjamin and Nicholas of Anchorage, Alaska and nephew, Tim (Amanda) Troester and sons, Noah and Caleb of Omaha, Neb., as well as his beloved dog, Roxy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon.
