Excavator and trailer tip over in Soldiers Grove

The Soldiers Grove Fire Department, Digger Don’s Excavating, the Crawford County Highway Department and LaFarge Towing worked together to clear the scene from the excavator that tipped over and trailer involved in the crash.

On July 6, at 11:39 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff Dept. received a report of an accident in Soldiers Grove near the intersection of USH 61 & Pine St.

A south bound 1999 Mack dump truck owned and operated by Joseph Zitzner, 53, of Viroqua, was pulling a trailer loaded with an excavator.

As Zitzner made a left-hand turn onto Pine Street, the loaded trailer began leaning and then tipped over. The street was closed for four hours till crews were able to remove the excavator and trailer. Zitzner was not injured.

Assisting at the scene were the Soldiers Grove Fire Department, Digger Don’s Excavating, the Crawford County Highway Department and LaFarge Towing.
