John L. Dorpat, 70, of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24. 

 

John was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 15, 1946, to Robert H. and June G. (Minkin) Dorpat. He married Charleene Langlois on Oct. 27, 1967. They later divorced. John had a caring heart and helped others in need. John loved his dogs, feeding wild birds, and tending to his flowers.

 

John is survived by his daughter Lynell (Steve) Shumaker, of Weyauwega; siblings Roberta (Carl) Courtois, Bonnie Genereau, David (Mary Ann) Dorpat and Julie (Nelson) Brewer. 

 

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Cavins and Christine Boehm; and special friends Diana “Dee” Johnson and Caroline Schultz. 

 

John was laid to rest next to his father in Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee with Witkowiak Funeral Home assisting.
