Registration for the 4th Annual Combat Veterans Ride/Cruise, sponsored by Eastern Iowa Chapter 39-3, will be 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 7, for the 11 a.m. pre-ride and 7-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Elkport Campground for the ride/cruise.

One donation of $15 per bike/car gets you everything both days, including food. The ride, open to motorcycles, cars and trucks, will make stops in Wadena, Monona, Guttenberg, and Colesburg.

The big thing we want to get out is that all of this is open to the public. You don't have to go on the ride/cruise to enjoy the food, auction, and music," said Ed "Crazy" VanLennup, Commander.

There will be a pre-ride Friday for die-hard riders which includes a catfish fry, give-away prizes, music and fireworks at the Elkport Garber Community Center.

Saturday there will be a silent auction, a live auction, live music, vendors, games, and fireworks. "You won't want to miss the food," said VanLennep. "We've got catfish, hog roast, wild boar roast, goat, potatoes, salads, and desserts. You won't walk away hungry; if you do, it's your own fault!"

There will be 700-800 give-away prizes. The riders/cruisers return to the Elkport Campground at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"We donate 100% of our time and pay all expenses that are not donated ourselves. All the money from this benefit will stay in Eastern Iowa," says VanLennep. "Last year we raised and donated $34,500 to veterans families in Eastern Iowa."
