Kevin Jay Starkey, 57, passed away at home in Boscobel surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 6, after a short battle with lung cancer.

 

Kevin was born on Dec. 10, 1959, in Cresco, Iowa, to Garland and Elvira (Lee) Starkey. He was raised and spent most of his time in and around the Mt. Sterling area. He graduated from Seneca High School and later attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore. Kevin loved spending time with his family, and especially his daughter Breanna. He was an avid Packers and Badger fan who enjoyed watching football with his family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his daughter Breanna Rae Hardy-Starkey, of Blue River; his brothers Randy (Susan) Starkey, of Seneca and Rick (Janie) Starkey, of Coon Valley; his sister Shari (Corey) Neuroth, of Fennimore; sister-in-law Penney Starkey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rudolph (Agnes) Lee and Fay (Lenora) Starkey; his parents Garland and Elvira; two brothers Ron Starkey and Brian Starkey; and a sister-in-law Sheila Starkey.

Funeral services for Kevin will be Friday, May 12, at noon at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Pastor Lynn Schreck will officiate with burial following the service at the Utica Church Cemetery, Hwy 27, in Utica. Friends may call during a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred. Online condolences may be offered at www.vossfh.com. The Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills is serving the family.
