Marie Anna Pflüger Wirth Gull, 101, of Guttenberg, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 4, from 10-11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church followed by funeral services, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment will be at Garnavillo Community Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Marie was born in Nassau, Germany on Dec. 14, 1915. She married Georg Wirth in May of 1938 and came to the United States with him to settle in Garnavillo, where he operated a cattle hauling business. In January of 1939, Georg died as a result of a truck accident on icy roads. Marie decided to stay in the United States, learned English, and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1943 and married Harry Gull. Harry passed away in 1991.

Marie worked as a beautician and then at a factory in Guttenberg for many years making sound system speakers. She especially enjoyed her cats who had longevity due to her excellent care, riding her bicycle around town, and playing cards. She helped at Meal Site and often went to the Care Center to help people play cards and bingo. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Her sweet, caring nature and special love will be missed, but we are grateful she has joined her Savior whom she has wanted to see for a good many years.

Marie is survived by one daughter, Dixie (David) Estrem; step daughter, Fannie (Gull) Trayer of Garnavillo; step daughter-in-law, Nancy Gull; three step grandchildren; special family; the Bonars, and other family and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.
