Firefighters association donates toward Prairie du Chien’s new fire truck
The Prairie du Chien Firefighters Association was represented at the Prairie du Chien Common Council meeting Tuesday, April 11, to present a donation of $11,600 to the city toward the purchase of the new fire truck, which is currently being built. $10,000 was raised by the association and the additional funds were contributed by an anonymous family that wanted to pay for a bell to be added to the truck for nostalgic reasons. The family will receive the bell back once the truck has reached its service capacity in Prairie du Chien. The money donated was raised through the association’s fundraisers—mainly Christmas tree sales, pancake breakfasts and chili suppers—at which the community generously showed its support. Since there were certain “bells and whistles” desired by the fire department above and beyond the city’s budget for the new truck, the donation will be used toward those features.
