Gary L. White
Gary Lee White, 69, of Garnavillo, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor.
Visitation was Friday, March 17, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo and one hour before service at the church.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 18, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite.
Interment was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
Gary was born on Sept. 21, 1947, in Elkport, the son of Everett and Bertha White.
Gary received his education in from the Guttenberg school system and entered the United States Army on Nov. 10, 1965, and served in Army infantry. Gary earned several decorations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman and the Merit Unit Commendation. He received his honorable discharge on Nov. 7, 1969. After returning home, Gary worked for many years in the logging industry for several local companies.
Gary was a long time member of the Clay-Gar American Legion Post 723. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, fishing and trapping.
Those left to cherish Gary’s memory are Janice Krugger; children and step-children, Travis, Kimberley, Chad, Jason, Paul (Danielle) White, Loretta Weipert, Lynda Schaefer and Larry Krugger; numerous grandchildren; four siblings, Kenny (Julie) White, Michael White, Norma Barnhart, Sandra (Henry) Fassbinder IV and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee Allen, Todd and Keith White; sisters, Linda Felder and Caroline Willie.
