McGregor-Marquette Shop Hop is April 8
By Audrey Posten, North Iowa Times Editor
Check out all that McGregor and Marquette’s unique shops and restaurants have to offer on Saturday, April 8, for Shop Hop.
“It’s getting warmer and nicer, so we thought this would be a great time and a great way to jump-start the season,” said McGregor-Marquette Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Patti Ruff.
Over a dozen businesses will feature everything from specials and drawings to demonstrations and beverage tastings. Visit participating businesses to pick up a punch card. At the end of your shopping adventure, drop the card off at any shop location for a chance to win prizes. The winners will be announced on Monday, April 10.
While you are out and about, stop by the Backwoods event center in McGregor for the McGregor Clan Lions Club rummage sale.
A vendor fair will also be held at the Driftless Area Wetlands Centre in Marquette, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will include Tupperware, LeVel, Cards by Vicky, Weavings by Wynos and Meg’s Minis doll clothes.
For even more fun, participate in the McGregor-Marquette selfie hunt. Simply take a selfie at five pre-selected locations in the two communities, then post the photos to the McGregor-Marquette, Iowa Facebook page with the hashtag #McGregor-Marquette for a chance to win a prize. Use these clues to find the five locations:
1) “Queen of Basket Weaving” - Marquette
2) “Roar in the Park” - McGregor
3) “Reptile Saying Hello” - Marquette
4) “Kaboom!” - McGregor
5) “Chugga Chugga Choo Choo Bringing up the Rear” - Marquette
The whole day, Ruff said, “will be another way to shop local and support what we have in our towns.”
